This new A4 softback edition consists of around 280 pages, and extensively tells the story of York City FC and its first two home grounds - Fulfordgate and Bootham Crescent – during the period 1922 –1960.

It remains largely faithful to the sold-out original version published three years ago, but the opportunity has been taken to rewrite and update some sections for clarity whilst retaining the outlook of 2019 for consistency.

Amongst the pages are over 240 rare images including the cover photo taken in 1934 of the original entrance gates to the club car park, and there is also a section on programmes and tickets for collectors.

Here are a few genuine comments from readers of the original version:

… I have simply been unable to put it down since it arrived in the post!

… It is an absolutely splendid piece of history and reminiscence, and I deeply appreciate all the hard work and all the love for York City which has gone into every line.

… I have just finished reading your wonderful book which I read cover to cover rather than just dipping into it. The story is incredible and I will cherish it.

… Congratulations on a wonderful and great looking book. I'm currently devouring it a great rate of knots! BC could not have asked for a finer tribute.

As Bootham Crescent is now being redeveloped for housing, it seems an opportune time to look back on the days when 28,000 people crammed into the famous old ground.
