This is a story concerning Jap Farley, a man with a passion for the sea and sailing who is able to combine this with his business of fighting crime in the maritime environment.
He lives aboard and works from his purpose built ketch Themis with his cook/bosun Scouse Johnny and his two operatives Duke and Earl, who are also his crew.
In this particular story he is working for a shipping syndicate in Singapore, represented by his agent Philip, a rather prim fuddy duddy who gets his thrills vicariously through Jap and co.
The syndicate are becoming increasingly frustrated and angry at the way their shipping schedules are being disrupted by spot checks and searches carried out by customs officials and police in the hunt for contraband and narcotics that are flooding Singapore. So far no clue as to how this is happening has emerged.
Farley had gained a reputation for getting results due to his desire for full on face-to-face confrontation with his enemies. His two operatives are just as eager to get to grips with the ‘bad guys’ due to having had bad experiences in the past, just as Farley had a horrifying episode in his young life that fuels his pathological hatred of criminals.
The story barrels along with fights, intrigue and beautiful sailing – with a little romance also after he meets Mireille, a beautiful Eurasian Lawyer – to a desperate bloody battle with the drug runners in the swamps and backwaters of Singapore.
The action is set in the exotic south east Asia, mainly Singapore.
