Rugby League has been Pete Allen’s obsession since he was born in a  ‘two up two down’ house just across the street from their Boulevard Stadium in Hull. His first book, ‘Living in the Shadow of Giants’ followed his life and that of his ‘family team’ from 1950 up to that seminal Cup Final between Hull FC and Hull KR at Wembley in 1980. Now the author concludes his story about living in a northern city, working for the local council and supporting his weekend heroes.

There are champions and villains, 'Judas’s' and 'Messiahs', brushes with royalty, naked comedians, lost weekends, striking miners, ridiculous mascots, petulant rock musicians, devious wrestlers, gangrenous pies and lots and lots of Rugby League and Hull FC. In the end in fact it’s probably just the story of one man, his glorious obsession and the way that it has influenced and redefined his whole life.

Sometimes inspiring, often amusing and occasionally moving, ‘Going Down the Boulevard’ is the compelling story of one man’s passion for a Rugby League team and what can happen to any sports fanatic in that situation, if they aren't careful.
