The Rise of the Terrors is the second book in a series of three which chronicle the progress of Dundee United FC from the founding of the Club in 1909. This volume continues the story just after the Second World War and details the history season by season from 1945 to 1979.

In the late 1940s success looked a long way off and the 1950s witnessed some difficult times for Dundee United. However, events towards the end of the decade turned the fortunes of the Club around. The achievements in the 1960s brought First Division stability and the foundations laid by the Directors and Manager Jerry Kerr, were further improved with the arrival of Jim McLean in the 1970s. He took the club to another level, allowing the fans to witness their first Scottish Cup final and regular European football.

As well as an in depth review of each season, this book contains detailed profiles of all the players who made their debuts during the period.
