Sleaze, corruption and conceit have been the hallmarks of successive elected Governments and the Queen has had enough!

Convinced that ordinary citizens selected at random by a new computer nicknamed RADO - Random Automatic Democratic Order - can run the world's fourth biggest economy just as effectively, she abolishes Parliament as we know it!

Can a hundred and two (one per county) men and women 'good and true' possibly do any worse than the overpaid and over-rated career politicians they replace? Thus the story traces the action of a 'national draw' and subsequent life of the new Parliament. Has the Queen made a huge mistake? Could it work in reality and how would you react if your country needed YOU?

From Comment
2010-12-05 Ethna .... This clever and entertaining book relates what happened when Her Majesty, fed up with politicians, decided enough was enough and abolished Parliamentary elections in favour of one hundred and two ordinary citizens randomly selected by computer. From the eighteen year old Essex girl, Chloe, who campaigns passionately against uninsured drivers, to Hamish, the salmon farmer from the Hebrides, whose business is at the mercy of the banks, and a host of lively characters, this is the tale their first four years. It doesn't take long for machiavellian instincts to emerge in some and there are plenty of twists and turns to confuse and amuse. A thoroughly enjoyable read. Should be a copy in the Palace of Westminster library!

2010-11-13 peter .... As a work of fiction I found this novel very entertaining and feel in
some aspects Mr Harland knows a lot more about the ways in which
politicians behave than the general public. Either that or his crystal ball was really on target. Overall
it was very entertaining and I had great difficulty putting it down
before the final page.
On reflection I felt this novel raises some very serious, almost
disturbing points particularly the manipulations behind the scenes by
Sir Michael.
2010-09-08 Alan .... Plausible political scenario; and truly relevant to this day and age regarding politics and corruption!

An excellent read: interesting and well structured.
