‘It’ Takes a Woman is a fictional tale set in York, England, about a young girl as she struggles to achieve success and personal fulfilment in the changing social and working background between the years 1959 and 1984.

 

After Audrey’s marriage to Rocky Drive, disapproved of by her mother, she moves with her husband, 300 miles away to Essex, and works in hospitals, administration and education. There are references to several genuine historical facts.

 

Through the impact of ‘Information Technology’ when microcomputers were rapidly reaching British markets in the late 1970’s and early ‘80’s the protagonist becomes involved in playing a part in introducing new technology into the curriculum of a well-run technical College in the Midlands.
