She then spent the next twenty fi ve years “on the district” in a semi-rural area of West Yorkshire. This is her sometimes sad, but usually hilarious account of those years, and the fascinating characters she meets, from the farmer who treats himself with animal medication to the woman who is convinced her neighbour is hiding a body next door.
