Praise for Looking Through Bubbles: -

"I have just finished reading LOOKING THROUGH BUBBLES..  I haven’t been able to put it down as it does reach out to all my different emotions including laughing and crying. This must offer a lifeline to so many people yet at the same time is so readable to the uninformed. It was incredible and has inspired me with my first two weeks of teaching in September. Not just an incredible book,  but also a privileged read."  D. Meyers  Deputy Head,  Aug. 2011

This book began life as a diary, written as a form of therapy to help me remember and come to terms with many frustrating experiences, that the last thirty years has thrown at me.

My family is unconventional in the traditional sense, yet in the 21st century this is a story which will have many parallels and similarities to thousands of families all across the world.

Our family has experienced tragedy, attempted suicide, alcoholism, severe depression, despair, dementia and Autism. The term disfunctional springs firmly to the foreground, yet is far from the truth. We are a normal, healthy, close family full of love, humour, empathy and numerous triumphs.

The ongoing theme throughout the book is the unusual behaviour of my youngest son, Matthew and his father Keith. It took sixteen long and painful years to convince the outside world that our son was different and affected by something out of his control.

Matthew and Keith are affected by Asperger Syndrome, which although only officially recognised in the UK when our son was thirteen, is part of a spectrum of similar disorders which effect thousands of families across the nation.

This is a gripping tale of how one family has struggled, survived and flourished. It is also the tale of how two remarkable people, guided by a fabulous family have managed despite tremendous setbacks to create a level playing field and turn their weakness and vulnerability into strength and confidence.

My story is one dedicated by love and I am eternally grateful for that love as it has taken me on a long and treasured journey.
