This book is about the first fifty years when my life was almost entirely centred on family and Smedley's. My Smedley ancestors came from Derbyshire, but the family had strong roots in Shropshire and Worcestershire.
It tells of my love of music and all things aeronautical and also about my involvement in the canning company started by my family, which became the first company in Britain to produce a range of frozen foods for housewives in 1937.
My book explains in some detail how Smedley's garden peas were grown and packed in cans and various packs in frozen form, as well as many other products including celery hearts, green beans and spaghetti bolognese.
My story in this books ends when I left the company and went with my wife Marjorie to start a new life in Trinidad, but that will be told in my next book.
